This paper introduces a new educational multimedia and hypermedia framework, the GeoNarrative, designed to engage students in digital storytelling utilizing handheld devices equipped with global positioning location capabilities. GeoNarratives are technology-based collaborative writing activities enriched with digital images, and published online in three dimensions via services such as Google Earth and Windows Live Virtual Earth. The benefits of GeoNarratives include providing for learners with different learning styles, incorporating multi-modal learning opportunities, and fostering emotionally and intellectually engaging activities.
